Hi Mum,
The trees that look like umbrellas are Eucalpytus. For some reason they shed all the leaves on the lower branches and just have a top canopy. I cannot see how such a large tree can be sustained by such a small canopy.
As you will see from the other pics, the plant-life out here is very different to Uk. Just the odd introduced oak or familiar weeds and garden plants.
