These pictures just show how desperate we were for meat on the camp. One night Mike, Stuart and his friend went possum shooting and only got a headchog. So we bake it in clay and ate it. Well what meat was actually on it. It tasted like crispy chicken but not nice chicken!

always wanted to clay bake a chicken!! I have a fab book from the war and it has clay abked hedgehog and recipes for rat and other mad things that we don't think of eating these days including heron!!!!
We would have to be starving before I ate rat! Did the recipe tell you how long to bake it for? We tried it for an hour but it was nowhere near long enough.
